Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026. This describes exactly what the current version of Link Alpha does, checked against its source code — not written speculatively. It is not a substitute for legal advice.

Summary

Link Alpha checks the links on the webpage you're viewing when you choose to run a scan. Everything it produces — extracted links, check results, scan history — is stored only on your own device, in Chrome's local extension storage. Link Alpha has no server, doesn't create an account for you, and doesn't send your scan data anywhere. The one exception, described under "Payments and license verification" below, is that activating an optional Pro license sends the license key itself to our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, to verify it — never your scan data.

What data Link Alpha accesses

DataWhenWhy
The content (links) of the page you're viewingOnly when you click "Start scan" on that specific tabTo extract the links to check
The URLs found as links on that pageDuring the scanTo send the requests that determine whether each link works
The active tab's URL and titleDuring a scan, and when using LocateTo label your scan history and confirm Locate is used on the right page

Link Alpha does not access your browsing history, other open tabs you haven't scanned, your bookmarks, passwords, or anything typed into forms.

Full-site scan (optional, off by default)

If you click "Scan entire site," Link Alpha asks Chrome for permission to access that one site specifically — a real prompt naming that site, which you can decline. If granted, Link Alpha opens a single hidden background tab (never visible or switched to) and navigates it through up to 25 pages on that same site, reading each one's links the same way it reads the page you're looking at for an ordinary scan. It never visits a different site than the one you granted, and the hidden tab is always closed once the scan finishes, is cancelled, or fails. Everything found is processed and stored exactly as described below — on your own device, never sent anywhere.

What Link Alpha stores, and where

All of the following is stored in chrome.storage.local — private to this extension, on your own device. It is not synced to a Google account, not accessible to other extensions or websites, and not transmitted to any server Link Alpha's developer operates.

Uninstalling the extension removes all of this data, since it's stored in the extension's own local storage.

Network requests Link Alpha makes

Link Alpha sends a request to each link's own URL — the same kind of request your browser makes when you click that link yourself — solely to determine whether it responds successfully. These requests go directly from your browser to the linked site; Link Alpha's developer does not see or log them. No request is ever sent to a server operated by Link Alpha's developer, because no such server exists.

No accounts, no analytics, no advertising

Link Alpha does not require or offer account creation, does not include analytics or telemetry (no usage tracking beyond the on-device daily scan counter above, which never leaves your device), and does not display advertising.

Payments and license verification

Link Alpha offers an optional paid "Pro" upgrade, which removes the free tier's daily scan limit. Purchasing it is handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider and merchant of record — when you click a plan's buy button, you leave the extension and complete payment on Lemon Squeezy's own hosted checkout page, governed by Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy. Link Alpha never sees or stores your card number, billing address, or any other payment detail.

After purchase, you activate your license inside the extension with the license key Lemon Squeezy emails you. At that point, and periodically afterward to confirm your license is still valid (roughly once a day, or when you click "Refresh license"), Link Alpha sends your license key and a locally generated device identifier (a random label containing no personal information) to Lemon Squeezy's licensing API to verify it. This is the only data Link Alpha transmits to any server, besides the links you choose to scan. The license's status is stored locally in chrome.storage.local — never synced to an account Link Alpha operates, because none exists.

If you remove a license from a device or your subscription lapses, Link Alpha simply reverts to the Free tier's normal daily limit — nothing else about how it works changes.

Children's privacy

Link Alpha is a developer/SEO tool not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If Link Alpha's data practices change, this policy will be updated first, and the update will be reflected in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
